What I'm Obsessing: Black Friday!!!

Yes. I am one of those crazy people who get up at 3 in the morning the Friday after Thanksgiving to drive to the mall in the freezing cold weather, to go shopping. And let me add that later that day I will be having my wisdom teeth removed. Ya, big fun. But I can not stop thinking about Black Friday Shopping! I have been saving my money for all of November and I need to shop! Is it weird though that I normally shop for myself? Hmmm... Anyways, I have had my list building in my head for the past couple weeks now for want I want. Mostly makeup, perfumes, body sprays, and hats. But as you can see, it's mostly makeup. I think I'm going to splurge and start collecting the Benefit Boxed Powders that where shown in my Birthday Goodies post. Also, I'm really obsessing over Physician's Formula cosmetics....and Stila....and Benefit....ya. I'm really looking forward to Black Friday. :)
Prices and products shown, listed here!
P.S.: I am officially on Thanksgiving break!

Birthday Goodies

So with my birthday just two days away, you know I have a wishlist filled with super fun wants! Now I have my practical wishlist....and my, "OMG I Wish I had a Million Dollars!" wishlist. This is a crazy, "OMG I Wish I had a Million Dollars!" wishlist. Lately I have been SO obsessed with makeup, like, it's a tad ridiculous. But I'm really lusting over Coastal Scents, Sigma Brushes, and Benefit...oh and MAC. Yes, the $35 for a face brush MAC. Trust me, I tried not to get sucked in to all the MAC products, being so expensive and all, but I want to try the brand. I just do not know what products yet. Any who, here are some of my top picks for this birthday. :)

So here is a link to my Polyvore page where all the items and websites are listed. And just to let you know, the Sigma Brushes are just as good as MAC brushes, for like 1/4 of the price! Also, if you watch beauty gurus on YouTube (which by the way, I am one now) you know Coastal Scents is good quality and really inexpensive.

In or out?: Conair Infiniti Curling Iron

OMG! I haven't done a post in like a month! Junior year is just crazy, but I'm going to try to go back to my every other day blog post schedule:)

So for Homecoming this year I wanted to do my hair myself to save money, but I didn't want it to just be straight and boring. I ended up borrowing my friend's Conair Infiniti Curling Iron and let me tell you, it's ah-mazing!!!! It gives you perfect S-shaped curls or beachy waves if you don't use hairspray. I heard that it's difficult to use, but I caught on to the technique pretty quickly. I found it much less frustrating to use than your average clamp curling iron. Now it does take some time, up to an hour depending on your hair. And by the way, it works very nicely on shorter, chin length, hair styles too. I thought it was pretty fun wrapping your hair around it and making PERFECT curls, so the hour goes by fast. I never burned my hand but if you are worried that you might, you can always buy a heat glove at Sally's Beauty Supply. The one con I found was that it's very easy to turn off the iron while your curling your hair. But overall, I love this item and I will be using it tomorrow morning.
You can buy the Conair Infiniti Curling Iron at Target or Ulta for $34.95!

When Katie Met Mark.

I have been wanting to try Mark. makeup for quite sometime now, and when my friend became a representative it was obvious that I had to buy the products! After reading a TON of reviews many of the items sounded too good to be true. But, wow! Mark. makeup is now my go to brand. The products are ah-maaaazing! I already have lists of products to get on my next orders. For the quality of the products, it's fairly inexpensive, especially the brushes. These are all the items I've bought and I already want more.
Lash Splash Hook Up Waterproof Mascara: I don't think I'd use again as a waterproof mascara (not because it ran, but because it just wore off) but definitely for everyday.
Curl Goddess Curling Gel: Smells ah-mazing, srong at first but light and fresh when your hair dries and it gives me nice beach-y waves.
Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss: I bought this in Pink Rush and it's the perfect color and the gloss isn't too sticky!
Get in Line Hook Up Waterproof Liquid Liner: Loooooove it! Really easy to apply.
Face Xpert Foundation: So cute, it comes with a little sponge applicator!
Matte-nificient Compact Powder: I have oily skin and this kept my makeup looking "matte" all day with just one application!
Foundation Brush: SO soft and really makes a difference when putting on your foundation.
Primed for Perfection Primer: Makes your makeup look and stay fresh all day.
Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter: Use it to highlight your brow and cheekbones and brighten your eyes. It's amazing!

All products shown can be purchased at meetmark.com!

Some Pearls for Us Girls

Right now I am really obsessing over pearls. There are just a classy look that can glam up any outfit. I'm wearing them with my LBD for homecoming with a red nail. And I think a long strand that's knotted would be just too adorable with my new lace shirt from Old Navy...which I love as well!
Natural and Dyed Freshwater Cultured Pearl "Firecracker" Bracelet: Totally love it! The chunkiness gives it a more casual look.
Betsey Johnson - Betsey Paris French Dog Stretch Bracelet (Pearl): I adore the idea of pairing a very classy look with more edged out pieces to roughen it up.
Pearl Flower Cocktail Ring: I love big rings like this! Plus it's only nine bucks!
Pearl Crystal Cameo Brooch (silver tone): I'm really into brooches this season. I can totally picture pairing this with like a slouchy black hat.
Cara Accessories Netted Faux Pearl Necklace: Love that it's a double strand and a double bow!
Miso Jet Flower And Pearl Necklace: I totally love the mixing of the black and white, it gives an unexpected pop!
Rose Bow Pearl Stack: I love love love little ring sets! This one especially because it has roses, pearls, and bows. What more could a girl ask for?

What I'm Thinking

Okay, so, I just went to manage my blog and such, and noticed I only wrote three posts in August! Three!!! And I know how disappointed I get when my favorite blogs don't post often, so I am going to try to hold to my promise that I am making righttt.....aboutttttt......now: from this point on I will attempt to do a minimum of five posts a week. Which for me is quite ambitious seeing how I'm a total procrastinator. And to add to that, I'm also thinking about doing fashion/beauty videos on YouTube, but that's just an idea. But if I do, I might alternate videos and blog posts.

More Fall Goodies

Sooo, I went to go to the movies today, but right before the movie started the theater lost power! But on the upside I went "window shopping" instead. Old Navy has the cutest clothes this year, like it's their best season ever! But I picked out my top five, and I think I'm in love.
Cable Knit Boyfriend Cardigan: Perfect and exactly what I wanted! I can totally picture wearing it to the apple orchard.
Faux Fur Vest: These were a bit popular last year, but I'm seeing them a lot more now and I'm head over heels for them!
Sheer Lace Top: I am sooo obsessed with lace right now! This one isn't too fancy because it's a looser fit, which I love!
Zipper Pocket Tees: Absolutely love these! I want every single one!
Cropped Twill Moto Jacket: OMG!!!! It fits like a glove and is just too, too perfect!

A Few of my Favorite Things...

Fall is the best time of the year: holidays, cool weather, and of course the clothes. Driving through Connecticut this past week and already seeing the leaves changing has made me even more excited for fall. Sooo here is my style inspired by autumn.

Oliver Peoples Sheldrake D-frame acetate glasses, Deena & Oxxy Mini Hobo Bag

A couple of notes.....

I'm loving liquid liner lately, the nail polish colors are exacty what I've been searching for, owls are cute, LC Lauren Conrad clothes are very lovable, I like floral everything, I wish I could buy the sequin blazer, I have 20/20 vision but want geeky chic glasses, and I will be buying the hobo bag.

What I'm Obsessing: Back to School Shopping!

Well it's been a while, but I'm back! I can't believe it's already August, almost time for homework, daily babysitting, and of course, back to school shopping. Yep, it's the most wonderful time of the year, well the shopping at least. I have been making and editing and reediting my shopping list for the past 2 weeks. I finally narrowed it down to my top 10. My style this year is ranging between Aria Montgomery and Spencer Hastings from Pretty Little Liars: Sophisticated with simplicity and a bit of an edge. Structured pieces (blazers, bags, and shoes) with simple basics (Hanes V-Necks, boyfriend jeans, and slouchy sweaters.) Sooo with that said, here's my 2010 School Shopping List!
1. Military jacket from Old Navy:: Absolutely love it!!! Perfectly light for fall and the color is amazing.
2. Boyfriend Blazer from American Eagle:: Sooo tempted to buy it today, but I really need to save my money. It's $70, which is pretty good for all the looks possible with it.
3. Steve Madden Oxfords:: Terribly ah-dorable! Definitely worth the mini splurge.
4. Snow Leopard TOMS:: The most comfortable shoes without wearing slippers.
5. Poppy Perfume Spray:: Smells amazing! Not too heavy like you would expect, it's light and fruity and I love it!
6. Sperry Boat Shoes:: LOOOOOOVE THEM! Enough said.
7. Deena and Ozzy bag (Urban Outfitters):: Just sophisticated and fun enough for me. Something neutral to go with everything, but it's still edgy.
8. Uniqlo cardigan:: Found this big, comfy cardigan while looking at College Fashion and I must have it.
9. Cynthia Vincent for Target Sandles:: Well I already have them and they're comfortable and cute and I got them for 6 bucks!
10. Faux Leather Moto Jacket from Target:: Like the military jacket, it's great for fall. And it's faux leather so it's nice on your budget and the animals!

So there's my style! If you need me I'll be at the mall. ;)

My Fave 5.... Style/Fashion Books!

5. "101 Things I Learned in Fashion School," by Alfredo Cabrea with Matthew Frederick

Seriously, it's like an Art Institute right at your finger tips. This short and sweet book is one you will read over and over again. It throws you little tips and tricks and many other things you learn in design school. Yes, it's pretty awesome.

4. "Fashion Design Portfolio," edited by Maite Lafuente

This is like perfect for aspiring designers and it is just perfectly ideal! The 3 in 1 book includes a complete guide to sketching and illustrating, a very mini, but cute, sketchbook, and a built in portfolio to hold all your designs! Even though the sketchbook is ever so slender, when use finish it you can just slide more paper into the folder (IN THE BOOK:D) that the sketc
hbook came in. I know, right? ;)

3. "My Wonderful World of Fashion," by Nina Chakrabarti

Basically it's like a GIANT coloring book of clothes, accessories, and like fashion! You'll never want to draw in it because you'll never want to ruin it! It mentions everything from coloring in Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse ballet flats (btw, love them!) to creating your own Henna tattoos.

2. "Built by Wendy Dresses," by Wendy Mullin with Eviana Hartman

Love love love! This book provides you with the sewing patterns to make a sheath, shift, and dirndl dress. Plusss it gives you up to 8 projects to do with each design along with alternate designs for each project. It's great if you don't know what you want to do and if you have the
perfect idea but don't have any clue on how to start it.

And finally the pièce de résistance!

1. "The TeenVogue Handbook"
Now I know I said you would read book #5 over and over again, but really, you'll want to take
this everywhere you go! Where ever you wan tot end up in the fashion industry, this book will help get you there. This gem is split into 5 sections: designers, editors, stylists, beauty, models,
and photographers. Each topic gives you tons of info from interviews with Chanel Iman to Karl Lagerfeld himself to the infamous Anna Wintour. At the end of each featured career you are handed a list of items and products that with help you succeed in your chosen career path.

In or Out?: Covergirl's Outlast Lip Stain

Okay, so I've been waiting to try a lip stain out after seeing ads for Maybelline's and Revlon's new lip stains, but I still can't find them in stores. Without being able to wait any longer I decided to try Covergirl's product. I got the color, Plum Pout (425) and it was about $9, not bad. First day I got it I loved it! It was just sooo simple, pretty, and quick! I liked that throughout the day I just needed to use a lip balm, no mirror required! And it kind of tasted like raspberries, and along with my vanilla lip balm it was the perfect combo! I used it for like the 5th time today and....ugh, sigh, it's starting to run low:( I just had to shake it a couple times, but it's still disappointing that it doesn't last longer. Also it only made my lips a tad dry. I have the stain on now and only applied lip balm this morning and my lips are great! So let's review, shall we?

Pros:
1. cheap and comes in great colors
2. easy to work with and doesn't taste bad
3. doesn't over dry lips and color stays

Cons:
1. didn't last as long as I thought
2. felt tip starts off pretty feathered when you buy it (ya it doesn't look like the photo, what a shock)

I don't think I would buy this lip stain again. Overall I'd give it a 6. Sadly I'm still on the hunt for the perfect lip stain.

Your Go-To Look

Need a look to go from work to "night life?" Well you have come to the right place. Follow these tips and look great no matter what the occasion.

MAKE-UP ROUTINE

Day: Shimmery shadow on your lids, brow bones, and corners of your eyes. Add black (pencil) eyeliner only at your lower lash line. Curl lashes, and apply mascara, 2 coats on top, 1 on bottom. Give you lashes a final curl so they are full and flirty. My fave is L'Oreal Voluminous. For lips just a very pale shimmer or gloss will do. Add some blush if desired.

Night: Just add darker lip stick with a coat of gloss. For a wilder look, swipe some darker blue eye shadow on as an eye liner.

HAIR ROUTINE

Day: Straighten your hair, brush back and and form a little poof by teasing your bangs at the roots. Pin back and hold with hairspray.

Night: Use the same steps above to make another poof behind the first and put the rest of your hair in a ponytail. The double poofs give your overall look a bit of an edge.

Now no matter where you work and where you party you will always look put together and hot!
